PSALM 23: SHEPHERD’S HOPE

“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou art with me. Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23)

Any day is a good day to read God’s Word to find hope. Recently a sweet friend reminded me of hope to be found in Psalm 23. Those Old Testament verses are so full of the loving benefits of knowing God that I want to share this hopeful reminder here.

The author of the message below that features Psalm 23 is unknown, but I am confident that person knew the Lord as personal Shepherd and was blessed by His hope.

THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

“The Lord is my Shepherd
That’s RELATIONSHIP!

I shall not want —
That’s SUPPLY!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures —
That’s REST!

He leadeth me beside still waters —
That’s REFRESHMENT!

He restoreth my soul —
That’s HEALING!

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness —
That’s GUIDANCE!

For His name’s sake —
That’s PURPOSE!

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil —
That’s PROTECTION!

For Thou art with me —
That’s FAITHFULNESS!

Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me —
That’s COMFORT!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies —
That’s HOPE!

Thou anointest my head with oil —
That’s CONSECRATION!

My cup runneth over —
That’s ABUNDANCE!

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life —
That’s BLESSING!

And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord —
That’s SECURITY!

Forever — That’s ETERNITY!”  (author unknown)

If you know the Good Shepherd, then the above message will be a reminder to you. If you do not, then read it again and ponder the benefits that are available to you when you are His.
