SON’S BIRTHDAY: RETURN AND HOPE

Today is my son’s birthday. I will never forget his 3:45 AM birth on July 22, 1980. His arrival brought out in me feelings of parental love that have not diminished but have grown during these past years.

For too many years now he has lived with his family approximately 2000 miles away. I am thankful for occasional visits, regular phone calls, and frequent text messages, but none of those bring as much comfort and hope in my heart as close proximity that allows face-to-face visits and in-person hugs.

Now he has returned to live only about one hundred miles away. This occurrence took place just in time for his birthday today. His return brings me hope just as his birthday always has. His return and accompanying hope bless my heart and inspired today’s blogpost.

Along with greetings for a happy and blessed birthday, my dear Son, I pray sincere prayers for you and yours. I am thankful for my present hope and for your return from the “far country.”
