HOPE FOR ONE: HOPE FOR ALL

I have been told at least once that I am “one in a million,” but that’s not the truth. I may be more accurately one in 600 million! (There pops that bubble!)

It is estimated that 600 million people watched the 1969 moon landing. After all these 50 years I remember the event, who I was with, and where we were. I consider it both a memorable moment in my life and historic moment for earth’s humanity.

That event gave hope to many especially those with hope in Man’s scientific achievements generally and NASA’s space program specifically.

There is a more significant moment in time that impacted my life even more and was one that I did not witness. It occurred almost 2000 years before I was born. It happened for the world of humanity, yet it happened for me personally.

Jesus Christ willingly died for me then invited me to come to Him to receive His amazing grace and love; to be forgiven and transformed; to live for Him and to live with Him in eternal glory. His plan was for me although I was a mere flawed human being and whether I was the only one or one in millions or billions.

To born-again believers this event brings the greatest hope. Hope placed in this One Who gives eternal life will result in life everlasting, because He triumphed over death. His resurrection proved He is worthy of our hope and trust.

I may not be one in a million to the world, but I’m thankful to be individually chosen by the One true living God Whose salvation plan included me. That thought gives me hope bywhich to live and to die.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“And hope does not disappoint, because The love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who was given to us. For while we were still helpless at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5: 5, 6)

“That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” (Neil Armstrong, July 1969)
